Let's talk about fear of failure, because it's closely connected to imposter syndrome.
Are you standing at the edge of your dream, hesitating to take that first step? Maybe you've been "preparing" for months (or years) but never actually launching. Maybe you've started and stopped multiple times because the fear of failing publicly is too overwhelming.
Friend, I get it. The fear of failure is one of the most common hurdles we face as entrepreneurs.
The Fear That Keeps You Frozen
This fear can paralyze us, keeping us from fulfilling the unique purpose God has for our lives. It whispers things like:
"What if nobody buys what you're offering?"
"What if you invest all this time and money and it doesn't work?"
"What if people think you're crazy?"
"What if you fail and everyone sees it?"
But here's what God says about fear: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).
Fear is not from God.
Let that sink in. That paralyzing fear that's keeping you stuck? It's not from your Heavenly Father. Instead, He equips you with power, love, and a sound mind—all essential qualities for a successful entrepreneur.
The Biblical Model of Bold Action
I love Proverbs 31:16-18 because it gives us a picture of a woman who isn't afraid to take calculated risks:
"She considers a field and buys it; from her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night."
This woman isn't reckless, but she's also not paralyzed by fear. She considers opportunities. She invests. She works hard. She evaluates her progress. She keeps going.
Notice she doesn't wait until she has perfect certainty. She doesn't wait until there's zero risk. She acts in faith, works diligently, and trusts the process.
Reframing Failure
Here's something that completely changed my perspective on failure:
Failure is not the opposite of success—it's a part of the journey.
Every setback is an opportunity to learn, grow, and rely more fully on God's guidance. Every "failed" attempt teaches you something valuable that you'll use later.
Thomas Edison said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." What if we adopted that mindset in our entrepreneurial ventures?
And even better than Edison's perspective, we have this promise from Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Did you catch that? In ALL things. Not just the successes. Not just the wins. ALL things—including the failures, the setbacks, the closed doors—God is working for your good.
That doesn't mean every venture will succeed. It means God can use every experience, including failures, to shape you, refine you, and ultimately accomplish His purposes through you.
Moving Forward Despite Fear
So how do we overcome this fear and step out in faith?
Pray for courage and wisdom. Don't just pray for success—pray for the courage to try and the wisdom to navigate whatever comes. God answers this prayer.
Surround yourself with supportive, like-minded women. You need fellow Kingdom entrepreneurs who understand the unique challenges you face. This is why community at She Steps Forward International is so vital.
Start small and celebrate each step of progress. You don't have to launch the full vision on day one. Take the next small step in front of you and celebrate it. Progress compounds.
Learn from other Christian entrepreneurs who have gone before you. Read their stories. Ask about their failures. You'll discover that everyone who succeeded also failed along the way.
Keep your focus on serving others. When your entrepreneurial venture is about serving and blessing others—not just personal success—it becomes easier to push through fear. You're not doing this just for you.
Your Next Brave Step
Friend, let me speak truth over you today.
The fear of failure? It's understandable, but it's not from God.
What IS true? You are equipped with power, love, and a sound mind. You are called. You are capable. And most importantly, you are not alone.
God is with you every step of the way. He doesn't call you to something and then abandon you to figure it out alone. He partners with you. He equips you. He opens doors. He works ALL things for your good.
So today, I'm challenging you: Stop letting fear of failure keep you small.
Take that next step. Launch that program. Reach out to that potential partner. Apply for that opportunity. Raise your prices. Share your story.
You were made for this, friend. Not to play small, but to step boldly into everything God has called you to do.
Reflect & Apply
1. What's one specific risk you've been avoiding because of fear of failure? What's the worst that could realistically happen? What's the best that could happen? What's the most likely outcome?
2. Who in your life can you open up to about these struggles? Reach out to them this week. Vulnerability builds connection and breaks isolation.
3. What's one small brave step you can take this week? Be specific. Write it down. Set a deadline. Then do it.
Your answers matter. This isn't just reflection—it's the strategic spiritual work that silences fear and builds courage to step boldly into your calling.

I'm so glad you're here.
